~ AUGUST | 2024 ~
Hey Reader! Last week of August and lots of life stuff, but been quieter on the market side. I just got back from New York from attending (not vending) Stationery Fest and got a really great energy boost and inspo for things I'm working on to come! I can't decide if I want to unveil quite yet, but it's "stationery" and "riso" related π and part of a bigger plan for Michaela Made and beyond! Enough rambling, announcements below!
1. Upcoming Markets
My next pop-up market will be in September! This weekend I am getting to be a helper for @shophearandnow at Plant Con in Dallas (Allen), so if you're in the area, come by and say hi this weekend and shop plants & earrings from my friend! ποΈ 9/14+15 Pecan St. Fest-ATX ποΈ 9/21 Mini-Moon Market-Dallas ποΈ 11/2+3 VIBE-Dallas β
Youtube has been slower to edit videos but I just got back from New York and finished documenting my trip! I wrote a quick post about it, so check that out. I was hoping to get this done before this newsletter went out, but alas it's still in Premiere getting edited. π But a great chance to encourage y'all to subscribe so you get notified when it posts!
So after 3 years of not owning a cat (we lost our cat Peaches in 2021 who got sick and passed π€), we finally adopted 2 kittens this past week! Meet Miso (white) and Shoyu (black)! Naturally the names are also ramen broth bases haha, so very on-brand for me! They were a bonded pair and love to play and cuddle. They are still getting used to their new home, but I'm having so much fun teaching them their names and I may or may not have gone full millennial parent and gotten a pet stroller! π
4. Currently Listening To
π΅ Naturally the summer girly Sabrina Carpenter just dropped her new album Short n' Sweet and it's a bop! Bed Chem and Slim Pickins are some of my fav tracks. The Taste music video is darkly hilarious too.
π΅ "Pokemon Jazz" weren't words I thought I'd hear together, but now has me down a rabbit hole and I love this playlist with Pokemon and Zelda Nintendo lo-fi tunes.
5. Currently Reading
π Viewfinder: I really loved what Jon M. Chu, director of Crazy Rich Asians and the upcoming Wicked movie has recently written a memior documenting his Chinese-American upbringing and his experience in film. I've been
π I'm in a memoir phase and just picked up Counting the Cost by Jill Dugger. It's a look behind the curtain of the popular TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting. I don't watch a ton of reality tv, but I always am fascinated by life stories and behind the scenes on shows I know and this book is riveting by the end.

Remember, you can shop new arrivals! The online shop has been pretty quiet so just sending a little screenshot to share what's new in case you missed it!
β Summer has been slow for market events, but I'm looking forward to getting back to seeing you all in September in Austin. I'm glad to finally feel settled into a new routine. As always, thanks for being here! π
Until next time,
Artist + Owner of Michaela Made
P.S. Any food/activity recommendations for Japan? We'll be traveling next month and I've been watching a ton of travel guides but would love local recommendations, and feel free to DM ideas on IG too!
