30 has me really reflective, so I made a few graphics that sort of encompass how I'm feeling leaving my 20s behind 😂

This one is self-explanatory. 🪦

Where I was 10 Years ago and what I wanted was so different! It was surprising to see what I have accomplished since and what I still enjoy doing, like listening to Taylor Swift and procrastinating! 😜

Things I Learned in My 20s:

1. Your worth is not your job + listen to your gut - aka if you're crying at work, it's probably not a good sign to stay.
2. Have a plan, but be flexible.
3. Keep in touch with friends (even if you get married or move)
4. Stay curious!
5. Audiobooks are amazing, (I would have read wayyy more 10 years ago if I had embraced audiobooks earlier!)
6. Sleep keeps you healthy, get lots of sleep! (I'm a "night owl" who can only stay up til 12am now). 😅
7. Follow the fun - don't deprive yourself by doing the "required thing" first, do the fun thing first because it excites you and because you likely won't want to do it after the not-fun thing.
8. Remember to PLAY and make work just for YOU.
9. Community over competition, contribute over consume, play over procrastination✨
10. Keep going! With every client's "no" or every bad market, there is an opportunity that ALWAYS comes to those who show up!

Currently Reading 📚 Feck Perfuction: James Victore - after meeting James in person at Crop, I found his book short and practical filled with advice. 📚 Making Comics: Scott Mc Cloud - learning about comic making has been another little hobby to learn about from this book recommended by Debbie Fong. Let me know if y'all have any other books I should check out on comic making or Clip Studio Paint!

I shared this a bit on my story on Instagram, but with the highs of highs, there are also lows of lows. After having such a wonderful weekend connecting with people at Crop in Austin, I did a market in Denton and made $0 in sales that weekend. I lost money on the booth fee and we packed up early. It was really discouraging in moments like that to doubt if I made the right choice working for myself and if it would just be easier to get a full-time or part-time job. Running a small business is not for the faint of heart, and I KNOW that it's not the work that's no selling. Sometimes it's 1 million other things out of my control. 😅
I was incredibly shocked and grateful to get an outpour of messages from peers and colleagues who reminded me that I'm not alone. SO MANY businesses are having a rough time this year and sometimes it's just weather or so many other things going on. I'm constantly inspired by the people who keep going and who remind me that it's all a learning, and it will get better.

Thanks for letting me indulge and write a ton in newsletter and share this little piece of my life with you. I'm excited to celebrate my birthday tomorrow. These newsletters have been SO FUN to share. THANK YOU ALL for being here! 💛
