Hey Reader! Welcome to my first newsletter of 2025! If you're new here, this is a space where I like to share upcoming events and things that are inspiring me in this little corner of the internet. I started my newsletter 2 years ago, and it has grown from 0 to 369 of you omg! Here's a little about myself so we can get acquainted (or re-acquainted)ππ»:
I have a background in Graphic Design, Advertising and Packaging and used to work at H-E-B before working full-time as an independent artist.
I'm a Taurus and Chinese Year of the Dog!
I am am a collector of all things riso, and got my own printer last year that I'm excited to make new work on this year!
I have a stationery addiction and love chatting about fountain pens and notebooks!
I have 2 cats, Miso & Shoyu! I will gladly swap cat photos or talk cats anytime!
1. Lunar New Year Markets
I'm so excited to be participating in 4 Lunar New Year events this year! My next event will be THIS WEEKEND at Otaku Food Festival in Denton! Details below: πGolden Triangle Mall 2201 S Interstate 35 Denton, TX 76205 Saturday, Jan 25: 12-8pm Sunday, Jan 26: 12-5:30pm
My new Lunar New Year Line will launch this weekend 1/25 at 10am cst. Since starting this series 2 years ago, I have enjoyed adopting traditions like attending festivals and of course eating lots of good food!
I'm excited to be launching mid-size prints of my Snake design along with gold foil red envelopes this year!
Mark your calendars for this drop! Plus, I'm working on one last surprise project just in time for my 2/1 Austin market!

A peek behind the "glam" to show how my desk is currently littered with references and ideas for upcoming drawings.
Below is also a wip for future zodiac characters! I'm actually aiming to finish the rest of my LNY series this year and working on a fun interactive riso project (hopefully by 2/1)!

4. I'm in a new shop!
Big news! You can now find Michaela Made stationery & stickers at Bonsai Paper Co. at NorthPark in Dallas! β Iβm excited to start growing to be in local shops and this is the second shop in DFW that I've had the honor of working with (thank you DIME Store in Denton). If you or someone you know would like to see me in shops, please send them this link for wholesaler interest! I'm working on creating a Faire account later this year.
5. 2024 in Review

π Reading: I'm learning more and more about retail and wanted a more comprehensive view of business and so I have been re-visting The Fashion Business Manual by Fashionary that I picked up at a bookstore in London. It's been a great in depth how-to for establishing a retail brand (just swap art prints for clothes) and it feels very relevant to my own business and where I want to take it.
π΅ Listening: SZA's new SOS Deluxe: Lana Deluxe is on repeat, especially the song Drive! The music video of Drive features Ben Stiller (because SZA is a big fan of Severance) and it's such a vibe!
